Mr. Jake Johnson, Principal
Mr. Johnson is in his 19th year in education and 7th year as Principal of John G. Cullman Middle School. Before serving as Principal, Jake was the CTE/Federal Programs Coordinator for Cullman City Schools. Prior to the coordinator position, he worked at Cullman High School in many different roles. While at Cullman High School, Jake served as an assistant principal for two years, math teacher for eight years, and coached various high school sports. After teaching at Cullman High, he also served as an assistant principal at Fairview Elementary for one year before returning to CHS as an assistant principal. He received his Educational Specialist degree Master’s degree from the University of Alabama and his Bachelor’s degree from Auburn University.
Jake is married to Emily Johnson and together they have a daughter (Nora) and a son (Owen).
Mr. Chad Shannon, Assistant Principal
Dr. Chad Shannon started his career in education as a science teacher and successful coach. In 2010, he entered School Leadership as the assistant principal and Athletic Director at Vinemont High School. Later, he assisted with the district-wide implementation of the Cullman County Virtual School as its principal. Dr. Shannon transitioned to Career Technical Education as the assistant principal of the Cullman Area Technology Academy while serving as the assistant baseball coach at Wallace State Hanceville Community College. As he begins his 28th year in education and 11th as an administrator, Dr. Shannon serves as the assistant principal at Cullman Middle School, his alma mater. He is married to Misty and they have two children: Haley and Wynn.
